Spider-Bite; The Move

Blog By M. Mitera

Spider-Bite has been a presence in Manchester for more than two decades, helping people beautify their bodies with piercings and tattoos. The shop started out as a small spot in front of SOPHA on Elm St, containing tanning beds, tattoo equipment (once the law allowed it), and eventually piercing. This small space quickly became far too cramped and the shop moved down the road. For years, clients frequented the 435 Elm St location and that was the spot where many people stopped in for tattoos and piercings. The shop contained tattoo artists, piercers, a full service salon, tanning beds, and a limited selection of adult products. For a long time, the space was ideal for the amount of clients that came through the doors.

After many years of increased business, however, the space began to feel too small. There didn’t seem to be enough room for the artists or the clients and the adult section was doing extremely well. Owner Jon Thomas began plans to move Spider-Bite to a bigger location that could not only accommodate the piercers and tattoo artists but also have enough space for the adult section that suddenly seemed to be taking off. After a lengthy planning process and build, the new Spider-Bite building was constructed at 179 Elm St, across from the Dunkin’ Donuts. The new building has two separate sides, one containing Manchester Adult Lifestyles, the adult store, and the other side containing Spider-Bite, the tattooing and piercing shop. There is also a large waiting area to better cater to clients on busier days, a state of the art sterilization area, and enough room to hold all of the artists that work at the shop.

By moving the location of the shop, we have a larger space that is better suited to make our clients comfortable. A larger space makes clients who are nervous feel more comfortable and since so many artists work here, it provides a bigger area for everyone to display their artwork. A bigger computer work area makes it more convenient for clients to find photos for tattoo references or work with our piercers to pick out that perfect piece of jewelry. Our tattoo artists have access to a light table for their drawings, making it easier for them to perfect your new tattoo. Again, if you haven’t managed to see this beautiful shop yet, you should come visit!

Some people think that Spider-Bite closed instead of moved and we want to assure you that that’s not true; we’re right down the street! If you haven’t stopped in to check out the shop yet, we definitely recommend that you do. We have a beautiful facility and a staff that is looking to assist you to the best of their abilities, whether you be interested in a new tattoo or a beautiful adornment. Spider-Bite is open for tattooing and piercing seven days a week, between 12pm-8pm and Manchester Adult Lifestyles is open between the hours of 10am-10pm(18+ only please), both shops located at 179 Elm St (with plenty of off street parking in the back off of Willow St). We look forward to helping you!
