Child Ear Piercing Policy

Blog By M. Mitera

We have many clients who come in looking for child ear piercings. Clients like these are awesome because they’re usually trying to avoid taking their little one to the mall to get pierced. The mall is not the recommended choice of body piercers so we appreciate it when clients come to us with their kids, asking if we pierce ear lobes on young clients. Since we do not use the piercing gun, we only have one piercer here that will accept young clients. Her name is Morgan and she will work with clients as young as seven years old. Now, since there are so many people looking to get their little one’s ears pierced, Morgan is offering a new deal on lobe piercings for little clients!

Currently, the shop policy for young earlobe piercings is as follows; most importantly, you must bring in the original birth certificate for the child getting pierced. This is a state requirement and can not be side stepped so please be sure to bring this along with your (parent or legal guardian)ID. Morgan requires a consultation with the client before the procedure. The young client must come in to the shop with their parent or legal guardian and speak to Morgan about what the piercing entails. This conversation goes over how we do the piercings (free hand without the use of a gun or clamps), the fact that they must sit still, that it will hurt, and the aftercare of the piercings. If the young client can hold this conversation and answer any and all questions with well formed answers, an appointment is then made for the little one to get their ears pierced. While sometimes, this is on the same day as the consultation, it is usually scheduled for a few days in advance so that the client can be sure that they’ll be able to sit through the procedure and handle the aftercare regimen. So if you are looking to get your little one’s ears pierced, please be aware that you might not be able to get them on the same day as the consultation. The reason Morgan does this is to ensure that the child is ready for the piercing. The focus is on the end result and if Morgan doesn’t believe that the end result will yield a satisfactory piercing, she will not accept the client. This is in no way meant to hurt anyone’s feelings. Children mature at different rates and while some seven year olds may act more like fourteen year olds, there are also seven year olds who act like three year olds when uncomfortable.

In order to help facilitate young clients coming to an actual piercing studio, Morgan has decided to drop the prices of earlobe piercings on those ages 13 and under. Instead of being $20 per piercing, the cost per ear will only be $10 plus the cost of jewelry (starting at $25 per piece and going up from there). That means that with basic jewelry and the piercing cost, the total will only come to $70. While we do understand that $70 is still a bit expensive, we want to assure you that all of our jewelry is implant grade titanium. Not to mention, Morgan is not only a trained piercer but also has experience working with young children in a daycare setting (she was a daycare assistant for over a year while in college). So not only is the shop equipped to handle those with sensitive skin but Morgan is easy-going and gets along very well with children, ensuring that your little one has a pleasant time during the procedure. Morgan also offers a stuffed animal companion to help with nervousness as well as lollipops and stickers after everything is said and done.

Bringing your child to Spider-Bite to get their earlobes pierced is a much happier experience than going to the mall. Again, with the focus being on the end result, we want to make sure that you get what you pay for and that your child has well placed, healthy piercings. By piercing in such a sterile environment with hypodermic needles and a thorough aftercare speech, the margin for error is very small. Not only that but Morgan has a license from the state proclaiming her ability to practice body piercing and modification, whereas the cashier at the mall does not hold such a certification. If you have any questions regarding our young client earlobe piercing, please don’t hesitate to call the shop at (603)645-1449. We would be happy to answer any questions you might have!
